Types of Gel Wax
There are three types of gel wax. LP ( low density ), MP ( medium density ), and HP ( high density ). The thicker ( more dense ) the gel is the more fragrance it will hold, and it will suspend objects better.
LP gel wax is used primarily for lightly scented gel candles without embeds. This gel wax leaves very few bubbles, and will not hold suspended embeds.
MP gel wax is used for a little more fragrant candles and will be fine for small embeds or embeds that do not need to be suspended, such as fruit slices to make a preserve candle. I also use glitter with this gel. This gel wax seems to be the most popular of the three types. This gel leaves more bubbles.
HP gel wax is the thickest gel of them all and will hold all your candle embeds. You can suspend glass items such as fish without worrying about them sinking to the bottom of your container. This gel wax is the hardest to work with and forms more bubbles as it cools.
REMEMBER:
The thicker the gel wax is the harder it is to keep bubbles out of your candle. And 1 pound of gel is by weight, not fluid ounces.
